Hollis Director Ross Powell, Head of the real estate consultancy’s Cardiff office, looks back at 15 years in the city:
15 years ago our Cardiff office opened, representing Hollis in Wales and giving us further reach in the UK. Since then, it has developed an expertise in delivering dilapidation instructions and project management within the real estate sector, as well as providing technical due diligence on some of the country’s biggest commercial property transactions in the last decade.
Hollis is an international, independent real estate consultancy and works with owners, occupiers, developers and funders, aiding them to make the best of their real estate and extract the most out of the property lifecycle; offering services such as project management, measured surveys, due diligence surveys, reinstatement cost assessments, planned maintenance reports, dilapidations, ESG consultancy and pre-lease advice.
Opening on the 02 June 2008, the Hollis Cardiff office has grown to become a team with expertise across all of our sectors, most notably in dilapidations, technical due diligence, project services and project management. As part of the wider ‘One Team’ culture of Hollis, it also has access to hundreds of colleagues across the UK and Europe in order to build the best professional teams for clients in Wales.
As the Director of the Cardiff office, who has been at Hollis for almost 20 years, I am incredibly proud to have been a part of the Cardiff Hollis journey which has now seen over 15 years of success in the real estate industry. Cardiff is a thriving hub of real estate and a city where Hollis flourishes having built a reputation that will last into the foreseeable future. With the wonderful team in Wales and across our UK offices, we will continue to hit targets and expand into sectors that will benefit our clients and help them extract the best value and use out of their real estate assets.
Relationships with local businesses including Hugh James, Harris & Birt, John Winter Student Properties, Powell Lloyd and Jenkins Best are the highlights of Hollis’ Cardiff office achievements and set the precedent for what the team wants to achieve in the future.
The team also works with national clients on their interests in Wales, including Landsec, AEW UK, M7 Real Estate, Trinova Real Estate, DWS, Orchard Street, M&G Real Estate, Telereal Trillium and Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Other occupier clients include Frasers Group plc, Foot Locker, Amazon, Lakeland and British Heart Foundation. Hollis Cardiff continues to expand and attract new clients year after year, recently bolstering its local service offering by employing a senior ESG consultant in Cardiff, Adam Horvath.
The Cardiff branch is part of Hollis’ network of offices spanning across five countries in the UK and Europe with 19 locations in every corner of the United Kingdom. It also joins the Hollis office in Dublin and Newcastle which have both recently celebrated their 15 year anniversaries.
Situated opposite Cardiff Castle on Castle Street, the office is part of the community in the city that enjoys the bustling life and local activities on offer. This summer, the Cardiff team and Rosie the office dog, celebrated their hard work with a social event where they went paddle boarding on the River Wye before heading to an ancient pub, Ye Old Ferrie Inn, for some relaxing drinks in the sun.
