This month marks Paula González's first anniversary as Regional Managing Director at Hollis. Over the past year, she's spent time with teams across Europe, helping strengthen collaboration between offices and supporting the growth of our European business. To mark the occasion, we sat down with Paula to reflect on the last 12 months, what she's learned along the way and the opportunities she sees ahead.

1. You've been with Hollis for a year now - what achievement or moment are you most proud of?

What I'm most proud of is not a single project or commercial win, but the progress we've made in building a truly connected European business. Over the last year, we've strengthened collaboration between offices, expanded our capabilities in several markets and increasingly worked together to support clients across borders. Seeing colleagues share expertise, create new opportunities and operate as one team across Europe has been incredibly rewarding.

2. You've visited a lot of offices and spent time with teams across Europe. What's something you've noticed that makes Hollis unique?

The quality of our people and the culture of independence. Across every office I've visited, I've been struck by the depth of technical expertise, the willingness to help one another and the genuine focus on doing the right thing for clients. We're a diverse business operating across different markets and cultures, but there is a consistent mindset: technical excellence, integrity and collaboration.

3. What's the biggest opportunity you see for Europe over the next 12 months?

Our biggest opportunity is to continue supporting clients as their portfolios and ambitions become increasingly international. Investors, developers and occupiers are operating across multiple markets and are looking for advisers who combine local knowledge with a European perspective. We're in a strong position to bring together our technical expertise, sector knowledge and cross-border capabilities to help clients navigate increasingly complex challenges.

4. What's been your favourite place you've visited in Europe this year and why?

That's a difficult question because every country has something unique to offer. If I had to choose, I would say Amsterdam. It's an incredibly international city, full of energy and innovation, and it perfectly reflects the type of cross-border mindset that is increasingly shaping the European real estate market. It's also been exciting to see the continued growth and momentum of our Netherlands team.

5. If you could describe your first year at Hollis in three words, what would they be?

Collaborative. Inspiring. Ambitious.

6. Is there anything else you'd like to add?

One lesson that has stood out to me over the last year is that Europe is truly a team sport. Our greatest successes come when colleagues from different countries and disciplines work together to deliver the best outcomes for our clients. That spirit of collaboration gives me great confidence about what we can achieve in the years ahead.

After a year of building connections, strengthening collaboration and championing a truly European approach, Paula's optimism for the future is clear. If there's one takeaway from our conversation, it's that success across Europe comes from working together as one team, in collaboration with our clients. With strong momentum across our markets and teams, we're excited to see what the next chapter brings.
