As rooftop solar installations become more common, concerns are growing about the fire risks associated with building-applied photovoltaic (BAPV) systems. Poor installation, design flaws, defective components and environmental damage can all increase the likelihood of fires, while the widespread use of combustible materials adds further risk. With responsibilities for fire safety often unclear and guidance lacking, the article argues that stronger oversight, clearer accountability and improved installation standards are essential to ensure the safe expansion of solar technology.
