We were pleased to have provided a completed state-of-the-art, prestigious office for our client, global law firm, Dentons. The space is located in the heart of Edinburgh’s latest mixed-use development in Haymarket Square.
For this project, we delivered a multi-service offering that consisted of Project Management, Cost Management, and acted as a Principal Designer on the 15,000 sq ft Cat B fit-out. Through our in-house teams, we also provided Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and BREEAM consultancy advice, which resulted in a world-class transformation.
Creating a fit-out in a building that was also under construction at the time provided a unique set of challenges that required us to work closely with the landlord to establish an alignment with their ongoing programme so that we could avoid any logistics issues. And to ensure the best and most cost-effective outcome with minimal wastage.
Sustainability was high on our client’s agenda and formed a key part of the brief. Taking this into account, we targeted a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for the fit-out using our ESG team of experts acting as a BREEAM assessor. Our project management team diligently monitored this with fortnightly BREEAM team meetings with all relevant parties to ensure all credits required were achieved.
Working with Kin architects, the design was briefed to cooperate with the client’s hybrid working policy, with the aim to create a dynamic destination for their employees that would encourage them back into the office, as well as include space to impress and entertain clients.
This development needed to offer a range of different workspaces that inspired collaboration and provided an atmosphere that would boost productivity while also balancing employee wellbeing. As more people became familiar with working from home, a sense of brand identity within the design and structure was crucial to ensuring returning employees still felt a sense of belonging in the office as they would feel at home. By incorporating this into the brief, Dentons recognised that the new fit-out is essential for attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry and supports them to meet their workforces’ needs and expectations, but it also significantly boosts their wider strategic growth objectives.
The result is the creation of a space that breaks away from traditional law firms and creates a familiar and intuitive journey for Dentons, their team and clients.
This project was shortlisted at the BCO Scottish Awards 2024.
