Project Henley consists of three projects, which involve the construction of office buildings on secure naval bases in Rosyth and Devonport; and an office campus in Bristol. We are acting as CDM Advisor to the Principal Designer on the project.

Security is of paramount importance for the projects due to the sensitive nature of their location. It was vital that this was conveyed to the Principal Contractor as early as possible to ensure that adequate resources were allocated to satisfy the specific security arrangements. We were responsible for co-ordinating this as part of our role.

The office buildings are purpose-built for the end user and as such additional consultation was necessary during the design phase to ensure that their specific operational requirements were fulfilled. Any additional hazards and risks introduced as a result of the end users’ requirements were identified and eliminated or managed accordingly at the design stage.

Following completion of the design of the first property, a lessons learned process was undertaken to ensure that, where possible, the delivery of the project was improved through refining the design and tailoring the working processes to best suit the nature of the sites. The design has since been refined and developed further for the third building in the portfolio.
