We provided lead design consultant, principal designer and contract administration services with in-house M&E design on the refurbishment of two Grade II Listed WW2 barrage balloon hangars constructed in 1938. Both hangars were in a very poor state of repair and the landlord had been served with an enforcement notice from the Local Authority.

The existing buildings were fully measured by our in-house measured survey team, including area referencing, and our energy specialists provided advice on the EPCs.

Communication was key as we had to agree an acceptable level of repairs/replacement with the Conservation Officer and Historic England, whilst ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations and commercial viability.

The works also incorporated a major electrical upgrade for an incoming tenant within the contract programme. Upon completion we also provided tenant alterations services for the proposed tenant fit out incorporating a mezzanine and M&E installations.
