Partner and head of our Environmental Services, Anne Johnstone, has been appointed Chair-Elect of the UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA). Anne will become only the second female appointed to the position of Chair of UKELA when she takes over from Stephen Sykes in July 2017. She has been a Trustee of UKELA since 2011 and Vice-Chair since July 2015.

Anne joined Malcolm Hollis in June 2016 to establish our in-house specialist environmental team to support the firm’s existing services, in particular, technical due diligence. She has worked in environmental consultancy since 2000, starting out with Phase I environmental assessments and Phase II site investigations, progressing to risk assessment and remediation options appraisal, due diligence auditing, compliance assessment, environmental permitting and offshore decommissioning comparative assessment. Anne is also a Fellow of the Geological Society and a member of the Investment Property Forum.

Commenting Anne said: “UKELA has a unique role to play in the future of environmental law across the UK, particularly in light of Brexit and the forthcoming Great Repeal Bill, and I am delighted and honoured to become Chair-Elect of such a forefront organisation at this important time.”
